The Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion
(
MSHWR
), Attig was injured on 7 November 1863 and admitted to Harewood Hospital, where he was treated by Bontecou. The
MSHWR
also indicates that Attig died while under care at Harewood Hospital.
The American Civil War Research Database
indicates, however, that Attig survived the war and was merely discharged due to wounds on 7 November 1863. Despite this discrepancy in information, it seems likely that both sources refer to the same soldier.
