According to The Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion (MSHWR), Hamilton died on the 22nd of August, three days after being admitted to Fairfax Seminary. The American Civil War Research Database (ACWRD), however, lists Hamilton's date of death as being ten days earlier, 12 August 1862.
