John L. Edd. Have known servant for last 10 years in Alexa in Hotel [illegible] Been here since 14th last March. I cannot say any thing about his being here with the consent of his master I know he hired himself to Mr Newton, Mr Green & Mr Hefflebower.
servant says he had
[written?] papers from my master for 10 years to hire where I pleased. and to pay master $10
