Place information: The police arrested Mrs. Egan, whose house was located at No. 308 Fourth St. Witnesses testified before Justice Giberson that "Mrs. E kept the house and that the inmates have a bad reputation among the neighbors." She was held on $500 bail.

Place information: The police raided No. 40 Missouri avenue and arrested "Mrs. M. Shear, Mary Hanna, Elizabeth Gray, (white,) and Mary Jane Bell, (colored,)." Mr. Shear appeared at the Fourth Ward Station, where the women were being held, and "demanded his property." He was arrested. Mr. and Mrs. Shear were held on $500 bail. The white women were fined $5.58 each, "and Mary Jane Bell, the colored servant, was discharged."

This bawdy house was located at No. 437 10th St. between G and H. The Provost Marshal's list notes that it had 2 inmates and was a Class 1.

The police raided Lizzie Weldon's house on Tenth St, near G. They arrested Annie Douke, Mary Brown, Jennie Smith, and Julia West. Justice Clayton charged Julia West with "keeping a bawdy house." There was not enough evidence, however, so the case was dismissed.
