Robert Bibb enlisted into E Company of the 4th Virginia Infantry as Private. He died of wounds as a POW while serving this regiment. Bibb was taken POW on 6 February 1864 and, according to
The American Civil War Research Database
, he died two months later.
The Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion
, however, indicates that Bibb died two years later, in 1866.
