CASE 2.—Private Jos. Oldham, Co. G, 52d N. Y.; age 20; admitted Nov. 23, 1863. Died December 13. Post-mortem examination: The posterior portion of the epiglottis and pharynx was covered by a diphtheritic membrane; the cellular tissue of the larynx was œdematous and indurated; the upper portion of the first and the whole of the third lobe of the right lung were hepatized; other thoracic and abdominal organs normal.—Ass't Surgeon H.
