"Descent upon a Bawdy House," National Republican, Feb. 5, 1863, reported that arrests were made at the house of prostitution kept by Anna Bennett, 148 F Street: Harriett Williams, Lizzy White, Emma Benner, Anna Collins, Jenny Waters, Anna Clark, Kate Turner and Anna Bennett were taken in. Justice Drury discharged them when they gave security for good behavior.
This bawdy house was located at No. 148 F St. The Provost Marshal's list notes that it had 7 inmates and was then "In charge of Police."
