Sowers was admitted to Soldier's Rest from the 1st Division Hospital of the Sixth Corps two weeks after being wounded. He was briefly treated at Soldier's Rest before being transferred to Haddington Hospital at Philadelphia. Sowers was returned to duty 15 April 1865.
