Cliffburne General Hospital was located in the Cliffburne barracks, which had served as the barracks for the 5th U.S. Cavalry. It merged into the Lincoln General Hospital on December 26, 1862. In May 1862, Confederate prisoners were treated here. All were sent to Capitol Prison in September 1862.
