Located in parts of the Patent Office building, this hospital housed the Nineteenth Indiana Volunteers from its opening until March 1862. In a newspaper report in late May, 1862, it was called the "Indiana Hospital." ["Sick and Wounded Soldiers in Hospitals," National Republican, May 21, 1862.]

When the hospital was closed in late June of 1862, the patients were sent to Judiciary Square Hospital, except for four, who were too ill to move. The hospital reopened in September 1862 and upon officially closing, sent its patients, again, to Judiciary Square hospital and to other hospitals in the vicinity.
