American Civil War Research Database

ACWRD
), Fowler survived the war, mustering out of the 42nd Massachusetts on 11 November 1864. To the contrary, the
Medical and Surgical History of the War of the Rebellion
(
MSHWR
) reports that Fowler was hospitalized, diagnosed with typho-malarial fever, and died while under care at the Second Division Hospital, Alexandria, Virginia.
