CASE.—Private Otis Packard, Co. I, 3d Maine Volunteers, aged 18 years, received, at the battle of SpottsylvaniaSpotsylvania, Virginia, May 12th, 1864, a gunshot wound of the scalp, over the left eye. He was admitted to the hospital of the Third Division, Second Corps, and, on May 14th, sent to the Harewood Hospital, Washington, D. C., where he died, on July 9th, 1864, of "typhoid fever."
