   <p>Case from the case-book of the <hi rend="initialcap">L'O</hi>UVERTURE <hi rend="initialcap">H</hi>OSPITAL, Alexandria, Virginia, <name type="person" key="134">Surgeon Edwin Bentley</name>, <name type="organization" key="132">U. S. V.</name>, in charge. All the patients were colored men, most of them sent to Alexandria from the hospital for colored troops, <name type="place">City Point, Virginia</name>.</p>
   <p><hi rend="initialcap">C</hi>ASE 545.&#8212;<name type="person" key="xxx">Private George Larue</name>, <name type="organization" key="xxx">company E, 31st United States colored troops</name>; admitted from the field hospital <date type="admit" when="1864-08-09">August 9, 1864</date>.  Diarrh&#339;a.  Died, <date type="death" when="1864-08-13">August 13th</date>.  <hi rend="italic">Autopsy</hi> <date type="autopsy" when="1864-08-13">six hours after death</date>: Body somewhat emaciated. There was some ulceration of the ileum, and general inflammation and thickening of the whole mucous membrane of the large intestine.</p>
