CASE 11.—Private Alfred Chase, Co. F, 35th N. J. Vols.; age 19; was admitted May 16, 1865, with typho-malarial fever. He had been ailing for some days prior to admission, but had not been confined to bed. In a few days, however, cerebral symptoms set in, accompanied with a profuse diarrhœa, and the patient sank rapidly, dying on the 23d.
