                        <p> <hi rend="initialcap">C</hi>ASE 130.&#8212;<name type="person">Private John Lower</name>, <name type="organization">Co. C, 178th Ohio</name>,
                                was admitted <date type="admit" when="1865-02-06">Feb. 6, 1865</date>, with pain in the right side and
                                        cough of several weeks duration.  He improved under treatment
                                        until March 1, when, having imprudently exposed himself,
                                        his symptoms became aggravated; <choice><orig>dulness</orig><reg>dullness</reg></choice> over greater part of
                                        right side.  8th: Delirium; skin yellow.  He became steadily
                                        weaker and died on <date type="death" when="1865-03-25">the 25th</date>.   <hi rend="italic">Post-mortem</hi> examination: Right
                                        lung adherent at apex and anteriorly, carnified, containing
                                        several small abscesses, and compressed against the
                                        anterior wall by seventy-five ounces of pleuritic effusion
                                        and lymph-flakes; left lung adherent at apex and
                                        posteriorly, some hypostatic congestion. Liver congested and
                                        with patches of recent lymph on its upper surface.&#8212;<hi rend="italic"><name type="hospital" key="162">Douglas Hospital</name>, Washington, D. C.</hi> </p>
