Mr John F. Boone having claim to the labor or service of Mary Thomas aged 45 years & her daughter Mary Catharine Thomas and having neglected to file his schedule as provided by the act of Congress concerning Emancipation approved April 16, 1862, this Petitioner files her Petition for herself & daughter Mary Catharine Thomas in lieu thereof according to the provisions of an act of Congress amendatory thereto approved July 12 1862. Petitioner shows that she & her child had resided in this District ever since she was a child & was in said District & has remained till the present time by the consent of her owner said Boone

Martha L. Shoemaker. known Mary Thomas ever since I was child. I knew she had a child but never saw it. I have no doubt it is her. She was here prior to and since 16 April and always lived here. She belonged to Mrs Boone when she was Mrs Edward Dyer.
