CASE 9.—Post-mortem examination: The right lung was
adherent and filled with tubercle; the left lung was also
adherent, but the adhesions formed a sac which contained
more than two pints of serum. The heart was normal, but
the pericardium showed marks of recent inflammation and was
full of serum. Altogether there were six pints of liquid in
the serous cavities of the thorax. Abdominal viscera normal.—
